President Yanukovych returns to work after sickness
After a four-day sick leave for “acute respiratory infection”, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych today returned to work
“Yes, the president has come back to work,” a spokesman said without giving further details on the leader’s agenda for today.
Yanukovych returned to his office amid an unprecedented political crisis precipitated by protests against his regime that have lasted more than two months.
The centre of Kiev has been sealed off by barricades and occupied by protesters since the authorities scrapped a key deal with the European Union in favor of closer ties with Russia.
The EU said today it was preparing an economic aid package for Ukraine after Saturday talks in Munich with the leaders of the Ukrainian opposition.
