Railway’s encroachment on farmer’s land
The Konkan Railway administration has encroached over one acre land of Walavalkar family who stays around Madura railway station
Banda: The Konkan Railway administration has encroached over one acre land of Walavalkar family who stays around Madura railway station. It was confirmed at land acquisition process held on Tuesday. The owner of the land Prakash Walavalkar was following up the matter for a year.
Konkan Railway administration has admitted the error. A new boundary has been decided in the presence of Police Patil Nitin Naik along with Konkan Railways’ Ratnagiri Office Assistant Musale, Zonal Officer K S Kubal etc.
The last station in the territory of Maharashtra on Konkan railway route, Madura, has gone through the renovation and expansion recently. The land of Walavalkar was first acquired along with other farmers staying nearby Railway station on 16th May 1991.
The encroachment is clearly visible when the map of second part of the Survey number 1, 2, 3 was compared to the map prepared on 3rd December 2008. A clear difference is seen according to the print generated from B copy of actual counting of land as per the application on a counter register number 488/3-12-2008 to the article of counting register number 71/16-5-1991 as per the information acquired by the Director of Land Records. The records say that railway authorities have encroached over 50 gunthas of land.
Walavalkar have demanded clarification about this. Konkan Railway administration had declared the boundaries by putting stones in 1991. But the owners were not given any notice about new acquisition and the stones showing new boundaries were placed around 5 meters inside the original boundary.
Walavalkar visited Distrcit Officer’s office as he was no receiving proper response from the Land Acquisition Deputy District Officer; Konkan railway’s Divisional Office Superintended and Sawantwadi Director of Land Records’s Superintendent. The District Officer has asked Land Acquisition Deputy District Officer to resolve this issue.
Meanwhile, when Director of Land Records surveyed the place, it was confirmed that Konkan Railway administration has encroached and the office informed this to Walavalkar through a letter. He also informed Deputy District Officer that the Land Acquisition Deputy District Officer must pay appropriate fees and decide the new boundary. The land acquisition process has given justice to Walavalkar family after struggles of a year.
