konkan monsoonRatnagiri: Rainfall has kept its trend of unpredictability alive in this region during this year as well. Unlike last year it has not shown much zest this year at least during early days of the season. Only 425 mm rain has fallen with the average of 47 till 11th June. This is lowest recorded rainfall in the region in last six years. Farmers and villagers facing dire water shortage are distressed with this lower precipitation.

Last year, rainfall had broken records of previous four years by exceeding average of first fortnight. Highest rainfall of five years was recorded between 1st June 2013 and 15th June 2013. But the picture is exactly reverse this year.

This unpredictability of rainfall may cause sufferings to farmers and villagers hit by water shortage. Nothing more than short pre-monsoon rainfall and seldom drizzles since 1st June is seen yet. This might have increased water level in resources but raising heat may diminish them again.
