Rains boost crop sowing, reservoirs’ water level in Nashik
Nashik: Constant rains in Nashik city and other parts of the district since yesterday have cheered up the farmers who are busy completing sowing of crops.
The rains have also led to a steady increase in the water level in the district’s 23 reservoirs.
The Gangapur dam, the main source of water for Nashik city, was filled up to 39 per cent today with a capacity of 5,630 mcft, a release issued by the district collector’s office said today.
The taluka-wise rainfall figures of today are: Nashik 3 mm, Igatpuri 73 mm, Peint 28 mm, Dindori 7 mm, Trimbakeshwar 27.8 mm, Malegaon 3 mm, Chandvad 2.4 mm, Nandgaon 0, Kalwan 0.6 mm, Baglan 0, Surgana 15.6 mm, Devla 1 mm, Niphad 5 mm, Sinnar 4 mm, Yeola 0.
The total rainfall was recorded at 169.6 mm in the district today.
Besides, 3,496 mm rainfall was recorded in the district between June 1 and July 28, as against 8,773.2 mm during the same period last year, the release added.
