Relief to Campa Cola residents, SC puts stay on action
Supreme Court has put ‘stay’ on the action against illegal construction at Worli’s Campa Cola Compound till 31st may
As the deadline given by Supreme Court to the residents to vacate illegal flats in the society was ended on Monday, BMC had started the process of demolition from yesterday.
They had entered the society with JCB machines and other vehicles by breaking gate with the use of dumper this morning. A strong argument and scuffle was seen between residents and Police.
Within seven buildings named Isa Ekta Building, Shubh Apartment, B Y Apartment, Mid-Town Apartment, Orchid Apartment, Patel Apartment A and B located inside the Campa Cola Compound, total 35 floors including all these buildings consist of 96 unauthorized flats.
Supreme Court had ordered in February 2012 to demolish these 35 floors but residents moved the court when BMC started the action in the month of April. Later, on 2nd May 2013 Supreme Court gave relief to the residents for five months. They will get the relief for more four and half months now.
