Malvan: The Department of Archaeology has undertaken restoration work of a historical Sea Fort, Sindhudurg, located in Malvan. A troop of expert workers has reached Malvan from Badami, Karnataka four days in advance for this work. The work has been started with repairing Buruj behind Bhavani temple.
The Sindhudurg Fort is in dilapidated condition due to bashing massive waves of an ocean affecting Tatbandi built around the fort. Constant complains from the followers of Shivaji Maharaj made Archaeological department undertake the work of restoration. The work is being supervised by Divekar, Officer in Archaeological department.
The work of Tatbandi behind Bhavani temple will be completed in eight days. Later, the work of Tatbandi at Ranichi Vel will be started, informed officer.
MP Dr Nilesh Rane followed up constantly in the matter
The Member of Parliament Dr Nilesh Rane presented this question in assembly constantly when the followers of Shivaji Maharaj were disappointed with dilapidated condition of Sindhudurg Fort. He pulled the attention of Archaeological department to this problem and got the work of restoration started on urgent basis. People in the vicinity are satisfied with the action.
