Ratnagiri: While brisk steps are being taken to commence air service between Ratnagiri-Mumbai, shocking information mentioning runway as dangerous, has been revealed. Coast Guard Commander Mohendro Singh has said that runway of this airport is in the worst condition.
Safe runway requires 33 pcm but in current situation runway of Ratnagiri airport is less than six pcm. Hence, aircraft landing will be undoubtedly dangerous here, he said.
Ratnagiri air service which was launched in 1991 and gradually closed down, is on the verge to breath fresh air. This service is most beneficial to traders and businessmen. State’s Urban Development Minister Uday Samant has taken initiative to revive this service. Aim is to restart air connections between Mumbai and Ratnagiri by 15th August. Presently initial talks with Indiabulls Company are in progress.
But while restarting the closed service, they are ignoring necessary facilities. Currently flights are landing here on their own risk, Singh said.
