Union minister Gopinath Munde dies in road accident in Delhi
Rural Development Minister and senior BJP leader from Maharashtra Gopinath Munde today died here in a road accident.
64-year-old Munde was on his way to airport when his car was hit by another vehicle at around 6:30 a.m. at Prithviraj road-Tughlak road roundabout in the heart of the capital, said Union Minster Nitin Gadkari.
He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead around 7:50, said Gadkari.
Though Munde did not suffer any injuries, he apparently suffered a shock in the impact of accident.
Munde asked for water from his security guard Nair who was sitting in front of the car and told him to take him to the hospital.
Munde was rushed to the AIIMS Trauma Centre by his personal assistant and a driver.
When he was brought to the hospital, he did not have pulse and blood pressure. There was no cardiac activity, said an AIIMS doctor.
Despite all measures, Munde could not be revived and was declared dead. His funeral will take place at his village in Latur tommorow.

Pall of gloom in Munde’s home town
Parli Vaijnath(Mah)- A pall of gloom descended on this town in Beed district of Marathwada region as news of the demise of its most illustrious son Gopinath Munde trickled here this morning.
People came onto the streets in small groups as news of the accident spread.
Many prayed on the roads, including the senior BJP leader’s supporters from the minority community.They hoped that he would come out alive from this fight, but minutes later their worst fears were confirmed and some of his supporters broke down.
Meanwhile, Munde’s family members have left Mumbai for New Delhi.
His body will be flown to Latur this afternoon and later taken to his native place in Parli. His cremation would take place tomorrow.
Munde died following a road accident while he was on way to Delhi airport to attend his public felicitation in his native Beed district which was scheduled this evening.
