Sinking trawler saved in Malvan…


Seven lives successfully spared

TRALERMalvan: In the deep sea between Achara and Tondvali, a fishing trawler named ‘Dayalaxmi’ from Malapi, Karnataka sunk on Friday midnight.

Two trawlers fishing along with Dayalaxmi took efforts to save the fishermen from the sinking vessel and saved all the seven fishermen riding the trawler. One of the boatmen is minutely injured.

The trawler got a hole in the bottom hence the sea water entered speedily inside in it. When the members of the boatmen came to know about it, all the fishermen on three of the trawlers feared about the outcome. They informed the rescue teams through wireless and Coastal guard team from Ratnagiri was informed about the accident.

Sindhudurg police sent their high speed patrolling boat ‘Sindhudurg One’ for immediate help.

When the local fishermen came to know about the incident they rushed to the sea immediately with ‘Holly Cross’ trawler.  The moved the water out of the sinking trawler through pump.

The coast guard helicopter also observed the situation. The emergency mechanism was made available on the port jetty. The sinking trawler was brought to the shore with the help of two others at around 5:30 pm.
