A new trend of ‘speaking lantern’ along with fabricated and Chinese lanterns in market this year
Thane: This year brings a new concept of ‘speaking lanterns’ along with fabricated and Chinese lanterns in market. It speaks when a person passes close to it. An Electronic Engineer Purushottam Pachpande from Thane has made it possible. This speaking lantern is attracting everyone more than other lanterns with various shapes and colors.
Purushottam Pachpande residing at Sahayog Mandir area runs a ‘Children Tech Centre’. This centre train kids to prepare various articles from the medium of science. He conceived this concept while making variety of lanterns every year. He made robot style lanterns with paper and used amplifier, speaker and sensor to make it speaking. When anyone passes from close to it, it speaks. Kids obviously like the concept more. These lanterns are available at B 202, Devendra Apartment, Sahayog Mandir Road at around Rs 150-200.
How this lantern speaks?
First the voice is recorded in a computer. Later, it is converted into robotic voice with the use of audio editing software. Then it is put into Integrated Circuit program. The lantern starts speaking when this voice is attached to the amplifier.
“Firstly, it used to take 15 days to complete one lantern but now it can be made in 15 minutes. We have organized a workshop for kids to make lanterns on 28th October”, said Purushottam Pachpande.
