Special train to start between Mumbai-Goa by year end

Panaji: A special train connecting Mumbai to Goa would start by end of this year, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu today said.

“The special train would be run in collaboration with Maharashtra and Goa governments. And it would be introduced to promote tourism between the two destinations,” Prabhu told reporters on board in a special train from Karmali railway station to Thivim.

He said the special train would be run by ICRTC, which is Indian railway initiative on Konkan Railway route.

“We will sign an MoU with both the state governments for the project,” the minister said while announcing that the train will start rolling before December 31 this year.

Prabhu said that Railway Ministry intends to start similar special trains to promote Sikh, Buddhist and even Sufi tourism.
