Mumbai University has organized a workshop on 21st November
Mumbai: The state higher secondary directorate has come up with a master plan. The higher body has decided to notice of the present situation of the higher education in the state so as to bring in the reforms in it. Thus now the directorate has decided to collect information from all the colleges across the state.
For this lone purpose, Management Information System (MIS), an online information management system has been developed. Various universities, including the Mumbai University, failed to collect the data. Hence the higher education department took training programs and ordered to submit the information.
The department has taken the decision to start online information management system from this educational year. But all the colleges of the universities including the Mumbai University made deliberate attempts to submit the online data. Thus, the department had organized online training workshops at various places. On 11th November the college representatives showed their backs to one such training program at Mumbai University. Thus the university administration has decided to organize another workshop on 21st November at Jai Hind College and have asked all the colleges in its limits to send their representatives for the workshop.
If the number of colleges and the universities are concerned, it was important to collect the data in time. It was also seen that many colleges tried to hide the information. Thus it was difficult for the department to design the new educational programs and solutions based plans. Thus the information will be collected through MIS. The information will also be added to the state government’s data centre.
Talking with Prahaar, Dr. Naresh Chandra, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Mumbai University, said, “The Mumbai University has organized a workshop for collecting the information of all the colleges to higher education department and the colleges have been informed for the same. The data collection work has already been started by the universities. But the universities will be benefitted more with the information gathered through the new system,” he said.
