Constructions in Ratnagiri to undergo structural audit: Samant

Khed: The Gulmohar Park building collapse tragedy at Khed was unfortunate. Hence, to avoid such incidences in future the instructions are given to carry out structural audit of all the under construction and built within a year buildings in Ratnagiri district, informed the Guardian Minister of Ratnagir Uday Samant.
He was speaking after visiting the location of Gulmohar Park accident at the press conference organized at Patbandhare department’s rest house.
He said that a woman and three children died in that unfortunate building collapse. It is distressing and concerned builders should take appropriate measure to avoid such things in future. We will investigate the mishap thoroughly. Meanwhile, all the constructions in Khed will also be investigated and strict action will be taken on the offenders.
He further said that the investigation of under construction building opposite to Tehsil office of Khed is undergoing and decision will be taken once reports arrive.
Samant informed that a British era Jagbudi Bridge on Mumbai-Goa highway has crossed its age of functioning and hence it is dangerous for transport. Funds of Rs Six crore are sanctioned by the government to rebuild it. So the work will be commenced shortly.
