Teaching staff slams lack of action against former official
All MLAs and MLCs from the district are indifferent about taking action against a former Thane Zilla Parishad Education Officer, for his alleged irregularities
Thane: All MLAs and MLCs from the district are indifferent about taking action against a former Thane Zilla Parishad Education Officer, for his alleged irregularities, despite an official recommendation for action to be taken against him, an organization representing teaching and non-teaching staff, said here today.
The Maharashtra state government is also not interested in taking any action against former Thane Zilla Parishad Education Officer (Secondary) A R Bhagwat, though an official probe revealed his irregularities and also recommended disciplinary action against him on August 30, 2013, Maharashtra State Shikshak Shikshaketar Karmachari Sansad president Ashok Bhairav said at a press conference here.
The Sansad, which represents both teaching (Shikshak) and non-teaching (Shikshaketar) staff working for the Maharashtra state government alleged, that Teachers’ Constituency Member of Legislative Council Ramnath Mothe was not bothered about doing anything about the issue.
Just before A R Bhagwat’s retirement in May 2011, the official allegedly sanctioned as many as 165 posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in various educational institutions, Bhairav said. Despite a ban on recruitment of non-teaching staff, Bhagwat allegedly sanctioned as many as 45 posts, he said.
