Thane: The 12,250 contract workers of Thane Municipal Corporation will be getting Rs 6000 as a bonus for Diwali festival. The official announcement have not been made yet so for to avoid the credit race.
The bonus will increase the surcharge of Rs 15 crore in corporation’s treasury.
All the municipal corporations like Mumbai, Kalyan and Navi Mumbai have declared their bonuses for the employees. The Municipal Labour Union had demanded a Rs 20,000 bonus for the employees and a three year contract for the employees ahead of Diwali festival.
As per the demands, the civic administration has indicated to give Rs 12,250 as a bonus to its 12,400 employees. Last year the employees received Rs 11, 750 as a bonus while the contractual workers were given Rs 5500 as a bonus.
Shivsena struggles for credit race
The municipal commissioner and the mayor had organized a press conference about the bonus for the Thane Municipal Corporation employees. The media persons reached for the conference. Later it was declared that the program was cancelled. It is reported that the Shivsena had decided to take the press conference to gain the credit for the bonus. A senior party leader informed about half an hour earlier about it. He also said that it was difficult to reach the conference on such short notice.
