Three Muslim MLAs want ‘Eid-e-Milad’ declared dry day

Nagpur : Three Muslim MLAs today demanded that the Maharashtra government should declare December 24 as a “dry day” owing to “Eid-e-Milad” which marks Prophet Muhammad’s birthday.

In separate letters to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the MLAs — Mohammad Aarif Nasim Khan (Congress), and Waris Pathan and Imtiyaz Jalil (both AIMIM)– said that consumption of liquor be prohibited across Maharashtra on the occasion.

“It (December 24) should be declared as dry day,” Naseem Khan said in a statement today.
