Tribal Ashram schools to provide English medium education
The decision would benefit the tribal students studying in the 556 aided tribal ashram schools across the state
Mumbai: In a decision, the tribal development department has initiated to provide English education through tribal ashram schools. With the decision, the doors of English education have been opened for the tribal students. The decision would be implemented from this educational year.
The decision would benefit the tribal students studying in the 556 aided tribal ashram schools across the state. A number of tribal ashram schools are being run in the tribal majority districts. A continuous demand was made for the English education to these students. After giving a serious thought to the demand, the department has decided to provide a Semi-English education from the standard 5th to standard 10th in the tribal ashram schools.
A condition of student’s and his guardian’s inclination is also to be considered in choosing the medium of the study. Besides that the potential of the educational institute would also be considered.
The officials said that there would not be any compulsion over choosing the English language education. The present teachers of the ashram schools have to teach in English medium.
The department has not made any special arrangement of funds as well as new recruitment for inculcating English medium education in the tribal ashram schools as of now.
Those ashram schools which would teach subjects like Mathematics and Science in English medium would be provided the respective books in English language.
But the educational institutes have to inform about their requirement to the concerned officials.
