Tribal girl tonsured


Police has registered a complaint under SC ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989

Me-against-rape-e1359782526223Bhiwandi: A tribal girl was tonsured by the parents and a brother of  her husband here. The Padgha police have registered a complaint against the parents and the brother.

Darshana Waghe, 18, from Pali married to Yogesh Patil, 25. Yogesh’s family opposed the love marriage as Darshana belonged to Katkari family, a tribal community.

But the duo decided to marry on 28th May 2013 and started living at Darshana’s house.

Meanwhile in September, Yogesh’s parents went to Pali and brought him back to their home Mainde. Worried Darshana went to Mainde to meet Yogesh and they both traveled on a bike to go back to Pali. But Yogesh’s family member caught them on the road and brought back to him. They tied the couple to the wood outside the house.

There Yogesh’s parents Madhukar and Malati and Yogesh’s brother Rohidas tonsured Darshana with scissor and razor and abused her.

Darshana contacted women activists of workers union and went to Padgha police station to register her complaint.

The police has registered a complaint under Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act 1989 against Madhukar Patil, Malati Patil and Rohidas Patil.
