Two cops booked for demanding bribe


Thane, Nov 21 (PTI) Two constables of the Thane rural police were charged with an offence for allegedly demanding bribe to favour the complainant in a criminal case, Anti Corruption Bureau said today.

Constables, Adhik Bhimrao Ghadge and Bhimrao Patil, attached to Kashimira Unit, Local Crime Branch (LCB) allegedly demanded a bribe of Rs 2.25 lakh from the complaint, whose brother was arrested in a theft case, claiming they would help him out in getting bail, Superintendent of Police, ACB, Thane Range Datta Karale said.

Following the demand made on September 26, the relative filed a complaint against the duo. After preliminary investigations, a case was registered section 7 (demanding bribe) of Prevention of Corruption Act at Kashimira police station yesterday.

No arrest has been made so far and further probe was on.
