Two crore gold seize at Mumbai airport
Mumbai: Air intelligence unit of the Customs siezed 8 kg gold worth Rs 2 crore in a toilets of a flight at Mumbai airport on Saturday.
The Customs arrested a passenger in the gold smuggling case.
The Customs got information that 8 gold bars (1 kg each) of RS 2 crore were concealed the two rear toilets of the Jet Airways 9W-539 Muscat Mumbai.
“The accused is courier and he was following his handler’s instruction. The accused had dropped the gold bars into dustbins inside the toilets. Afterwards someone used a screwdriver to conceal the gold bars in the toilets to ensure that no one can notice it” said Milind Lanjewar, additional commissioner, customs.
