Two from Thane booked for driving youth to suicide


Two villagers from Vikramgadh are booked by Thane rural police for allegedly harassing a youth, abetting his suicide

hang-upThane: Two villagers from Vikramgadh taluka of the district have been booked by Thane rural police for allegedly harassing a youth and abetting his suicide, police said today.

Pradip Ladku Tarvi (46), a resident of Sukhsale village, had reportedly taken a loan of Rs five lakh from one of the accused for setting up business of his son Pradneysh (22), who was an IT engineer, Jawhar division deputy superintendent of police SS Jadhav said.

According to the complaint filed by the deceased’s father, the two accused – Atish Pravin Bhanushali and Haresh Ramesh Bhanushali (both around 30 years of age) – started pestering him and his son for repayment of the loan and also raised the interest rate.

The repeated harassment by the duo drove Pradnyesh to end his life on November 6 by hanging himself in the computer shop set up by him, as per the complaint.

The two accused have been booked under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the IPC and also under sections of Prevention of Atrocities on SC ST Act and Money Lenders Act, 1946, police said adding that the Vikramgadh police are carrying out further probe into the matter.

No arrest has been made so far in the case, police said.
