Two killed as train hits pick-up van
Kichcha (U’Khand): Two persons were killed and four others injured today when a pick-up van was hit by a passenger train at an unmanned crossing near Kichcha in Udhamsingh Nagar district.
The mishap occurred when a Mahindra pick-up van full of passengers was hit by a passenger train at Gokulnagar unmanned crossing, Kichcha police station in charge B L Vishwakarma said.
The pick-up van abruptly stopped at the crossing and before passengers could jump out of the vehicle it was hit by the approaching passenger train, he said.
Eyewitnesses said the collision was so powerful that the van was dragged for about 500 metres by the passenger train.
Two persons were killed on the spot and four sustained serious injuries out of which two are critical.
They have all been admitted at the district hospital, he said.
All the victims of the accident were from Sitarganj area of the district.
