Utilize the energy generated through sports for Konkan’s prosperity

Ratnagiri: Sports enhances physical strength; rejuvenates mind; ultimately improving the quality of work and creating efficient officers and employees. Hence, the officers should use this energy generated through sports to bring justice to people and prosperity to Konkan, appealed the Minister of Industries, Narayan Rane.
Rane inaugurated the Konkan Revenue Division Sports and Cultural tournament by lighting the sports torch at Chatrapati Shivaji Stadium here. International Swimmer Virdhaval Khade handed over the torch to Rane. Dignitaries released pigeons and balloons in the air. On this occasion the Member of Parliament for Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg constituency Dr Nilesh Rane, the Guardian Minister of Ratnagiri Uday Samant, Commissioner of Konkan division Radheshyam Mopalkar, Advisor to Revenue officers union D B Shinde, District Officer of Ratnagiri Rajeev Jadhav, Mumbai’s Suburban District Officer Sanjay Deshmukh, District Officer of Raigadh M P Jawale were also present.
The Minister of Industries said, sports culture brings positive effects on performance. Players should display their talent by completing their routine responsibilities well. Revenue department is one of the most important divisions for us; it is like eyes and ears of government’s system. A good performance from this department enhances government’s impression in citizens. The department should follow discipline in office like on the ground. Our state leads on the front of sports and culture, players should try to sustain this.
Where Uday Samant said, many officers and employees have performed well on national level. The Government should encourage them. We are trying to facilitate sports services on rural level as well. The funds for gymnasium have increased from 2 lakh to 7 lakh while arranging the funds for sports complex on Gram Panchayat level. The sports complex is being planned on taluka, district and zonal level. Officers and employees will be benefited by this.
This tournament is organized to encourage hidden talents and sports skills in players, informed Radheshyam Mopalwar. Total 74 sports and 17 cultural programs will be organized in this 3 days tournament.
Players from Ratnagiri and Raigadh leads
Yogesh Akhade from Raigadh district stood first, when Sarfraj Shinde from Ratnagiri gained second position and Suresh Chavan could gain third position in men’s group during 100 meter running race held immediately after the inauguration. Whereas, in women’s group Ankita Mayekar from Ratnagiri achieved first position and Shobha Dudhal from Mumbai Suburbs and Gayatri Patil from Raigadh achieved second and third position respectively.
