Villagers lodge complaint over late night send off party
Nashik: Villagers of Janori village near here filed a complaint over a late night send off party of a PWD official held inside the premises of Ojhar airport, alleging that it caused inconvenience to them.
According to the complaint filed by villagers yesterday with Ojhar township police station, the send off party of Superintending engineer with Public Works Department, P Y Deshmukh was held illegally on Saturday night inside the airport premises, in which liquor was also served and it ran till 2 AM in night, causing inconvenience to villagers the next day.
The villagers also stated in the complaint that a heap of liquor bottles, waste food were dumped in the airport premises, inspector at Ojhar police station, Sanjay Shukla said.
When contacted organiser of the party, Builders Association of India, its president Vilas Birari, said the party was not illegal and they had taken due permission from Excise and PWD department to bid adieu to Deshmukh on his retirement.
Shukla said that so far no FIR has been lodged in the matter yet.
PWD had constructed passenger terminal for the airport last year and flight operations are yet to start from the airport.
