Volkswagen launches new facelift model of Vento
“The company plans to expand its product portfolio in the Indian market and may roll out one product every year including an SUV over the next few years,” Volkswagen Group India Director (Passenger Cars) Michael Mayer told reporters after the launch. At present, Volkwagen sells only three models – Polo, Vento and Jetta – in the country.
“You need to be present in the segments that are growing, especially SUVs and small sedans… We need to launch a product each year. We are seriously looking at SUVs. We have offerings globally and we can offer all sizes of SUVs,” he said.
Mayer said people’s interest in SUVs was growing as they provide more space, and “this is also a global phenomenon”.
Besides, the company also needs to look at new segments to keep it relevant in the market, Mayer said.
On the new Vento launch, Mayer said it has been Volkswagen’s constant endeavour to provide leading automotive technologies to its customers in India as elsewhere in the world.
“The new Vento, which is available with 7-speed dual- clutch DSG automatic transmission, underlines the fact that Volkswagen cars are at the forefront with class-leading technologies, in their respective segments,” he said.
The new offering comes with additional features such as advanced 7-speed dual-clutch DSG automatic and dual-front airbags, among others.
Volkswagen cars have always represented high safety standards, impeccable build-quality and outstanding driving dynamics, he added.
