DamNashik: The Gangapur dam, the main source of water to the Nashik district has been filled up to 82 per cent, forcing dam officials to release water in the Godavari river today.

With spell heavy downpour in the last couple of days, water-level in the main reservoirs and Gangapur dam has risen.

Executive engineer, Nashik irrigation Sunil Bafna said dam has been filled up to 82.6 per cent, due to which 1526 cusec water has been released from the dam this evening.

City dwellers got some respite from the incessant rains today as it did not rain since morning.

Around 304 mm rain was recorded in the last 24-hours, an official press release of collector office said.

Another Darna dam has been filled up to 77.17 per cent and 4,040 cusecs water has been released from it so far, Bafna said.
