WCR records 37 pc profit last fiscal
Jabalpur (MP): The West Central Railway (WCR) has registered 37 per cent profit during last fiscal, highest among all zones in the country, a senior railway official has said.
The overall expenditure of Indian Railways in the country was 93 per cent and the earnings seven per cent, while in the case of WCR, the total expenses were 63 per cent and the profit stood at 37 per cent, which is highest in the entire country, WCR General Manager Ramesh Chandra told reporters last evening.
The total annual income of the WCR, comprising Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota divisions, stands at Rs 10,500 crore, he said.
Referring to development projects in the WCR, Chandra said the electrification work was underway on the 561-km long Itarsi-Manikpur railway line and will be completed by 2017.
Besides, electrification work will also be carried out on the 50-km long Satna-Rewa line. After completion of these two projects, 85 per cent railway line will be electrified.
He also informed reporters that sanction has been granted for laying third line on Katni-Bina track in Madhya Pradesh.
