Women commit suicide after harassed by recovery agents


Azamgarh: Two women committed suicide by consuming poison after being allegedly harassed by recovery agents of a money lending firm here, police said today.

Thirty-eight-year old Sita and Namita Tiwari(40) had borrowed money from a finance company on heavy interest. The recovery agents were harassing the duo who were unable to clear the debt amount, Superintendent of Police Akash Kulhari said.

He said the two women were disturbed and committed suicide by consuming poisonous substance last night in Purushottampur village last night.

They were admitted to the district hospital where they died during treatment, the officer said.
