Youth killed in street-fight: Police register murder case
Hyderabad: A case of murder was today registered in connection with the death of a 17-year-old student, who was killed in Old City here allegedly in a mock street-fight with another youth, police said.
An initial report of the postmortem conducted on the body of Nabil Ahmed, who had collapsed in the mock street fight with another youth in Panjesha area here on May 3, revealed multiple injuries including on his head, they said.
Based on the postmortem report, the sections in the case have been altered to 302 (murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence, or giving false information to screen offender) and other relevant sections of IPC, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Zone) V Satyanarayana told.
“Nine youths have already been taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the mock fight,” the DCP said.
A case of suspicious death was registered earlier.
The matter had come to light on Sunday after a video of the incident showed Nabil being repeatedly punched on the face and chest by another youth.
A group of youngsters had “misled” the parents and family members of the deceased that he died in an accident and ensured that it did not get reported to police.
Subsequently, believing them, Nabil’s family had buried his body which was yesterday exhumed and an autopsy was conducted on it.
