trekshirish1Chiplun: The forts in Maharashtra are considered as signs of rich heritage and historical references of the State. They have played major role in the establishment of Hindvi Swarajya crafted by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These forts motivate every Marathi person and hence, British rulers had particularly demolished forts in Maharashtra. But the respect and love towards these forts is intact till date. The members of Trekshirish group have proved it by uniting for the cause to conserve Mahimatgadh fort.

The fort, now in dilapidated condition, is located 10 km from Devrukh adjoined to Nigudwadi and Kundi villages. The members of this same group had cleaned two water tanks on the fort during monsoon. Currently, plenty of grass has grown over the fort. The huge stones placed at the door are collapsing due to increased bushes on door. The stones on fencing of the fort are falling too, which will make the fort invisible in future if continues.
