The members of Trekshirish group have proved the respect and love towards the forts in Maharashtra by uniting for the cause to conserve Mahimatgadh fort
Chiplun: The forts in Maharashtra are considered as signs of rich heritage and historical references of the State. They have played major role in the establishment of Hindvi Swarajya crafted by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. These forts motivate every Marathi person and hence, British rulers had particularly demolished forts in Maharashtra. But the respect and love towards these forts is intact till date. The members of Trekshirish group have proved it by uniting for the cause to conserve Mahimatgadh fort.
The fort, now in dilapidated condition, is located 10 km from Devrukh adjoined to Nigudwadi and Kundi villages. The members of this same group had cleaned two water tanks on the fort during monsoon. Currently, plenty of grass has grown over the fort. The huge stones placed at the door are collapsing due to increased bushes on door. The stones on fencing of the fort are falling too, which will make the fort invisible in future if continues.
The members of Trekshirish cleaned the entrance and surrounding areas. Members like Prashant Bandekar, Nitin Harne, P Chandrashekhar, Sagar Shirke, Umesh Godse, Sujit Joshi, Devrath Gaikwad, Manohar Lahade, Dinesh Baraskar, and Akash Nalawade had special contribution to the campaign.
After the review of fort, Mahadev Nawadkar expressed his opinion. The president of Trekshirish, Sudhir Mane and Dr Pramod Thombre gave message about fort conservation. Arvind Benkar cited the stories of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Dnyanendra Sarfale explained the history of Mahimatgadh fort and concluded the campaign.
